Fulbrighter Isabelle O’Connell (Ireland to U.S., 1999/00) has recently performed two concerts featuring new work by Irish composer, Rhona Clarke.

O’Connell – the “Irish piano phenom” (New Yorker) – performed a program of solo piano works centered on Jean Cocteau, the iconic French artist, writer and film-maker. The concerts took place at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris and the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin this October.

The program featured works by the 'Groupe des Six' who were influenced by Cocteau (Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc and Germaine Tailleferre) as well as Cocteau's collaborators, Erik Satie and Igor Stravinsky. The program also premiered Cocteau, a new work by renowned Irish composer, Rhona Clarke.
