Vincent Sipeer on Making Connections Using the Fulbrighter App

Published on November 22, 2025

Article written by Fulbrighter Vincent Sipeer, a German Fulbright fellow in 2025, researching Global Governance and Policy at the Middlebury Institute, CA.

The Fulbrighter app is a must-have for every Fulbrighter! Thanks to its comprehensive user list, I have built a valuable network across the Bay Area, Santa Cruz, Berkeley and San Francisco. By using the app, I was able to connect to my friend Djurdja Padejski, a Serbian-American journalist, linguist, and ASU researcher based at Stanford. Through our connection, I have had the opportunity to share experiences with other Czech Fulbrighters, cooperate with Stanford students, and attend a wonderful reception of the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies.

Djurdja's family, my partner and I have since planned to celebrate important holidays, such as Halloween and Thanksgiving, together. I think that proves how valuable the app has been for me. I believe that using Fulbrighter is truly the best way to reach out to thousands of future, current, and past Fulbright grantees around the globe!

Djurdja's and Vincent's encounter happened because of his use of the Fulbrighter app

Here is how I use the app to connect with fellow Fulbrighters:

First, I click on the Global Feed, where I can go through updates on trips, events, and educational opportunities shared by other Fulbrighters. It’s a great way to discover people working on similar cultural, academic and professional projects.

Then, when I wish to get in contact with Fulbrighters in my region, I tap "Find Fulbrighters" and adjust the filters, like industries, program or cohort year, and browse through thousands of profiles. I can then send a message to fellow Fulbrighters.

I also like to visit the "Groups" section, where I can join chapters and grantee communities, and connect more deeply with Fulbrighters who share my interests or experiences. I believe this app is unique and truly the best way to reach out to thousands of Fulbrighters around the world!
