On April 9, 2018, Eric Fullerton, UC San Diego Professor in Materials Science, and 2018 Fulbright Distinguished Chair Recipient, gave a presentation on the modern challenges with data storage at the Jean Lamour Institute (IJL). In the current technological age, he posits that data is doubling apporoximately every two years. This poses the need for innovative nanotechnology storage methods, as the increased demand for data storage taxes both current technologies and energy consumption. Fullerton is utilizing models of the neuronal functioning of the human brain to develop a new generation of nanotechnology to meet tomorrow's storage demand.
